Eric McLaughlin
Eric is a Houston-based physician and entrepreneur whose career runs from emergency medicine through healthcare operations into real estate development. He holds a BS in Accounting from BYU and completed his emergency medicine residency in 2004. Today he serves as President of Middle Ground Development Group.
Why Middle Ground? Eric co-founded Middle Ground to prove that Houston’s Third Ward can be developed without displacing the community that built it. The model is privately funded, locally rooted, and anti-displacement by design – “missing middle” workforce housing leased at affordable rates. For Eric, it’s both the next chapter of an operationally rigorous career and the foundation of the community-focused work he intends to build over the long term.

Aaron Rosenberg
Aaron is a seasoned real estate developer with over 25 years of home improvement experience and over 12 years of ground up new construction / development experience. Aaron prides himself on precision, quality, and punctuality for all of his construction projects. Aaron has joined MGD because of his strong belief in the company’s mission, purpose, and a general care and interest for the development and prosperity of inner city Houston. Aaron has a profound interest in architecture and hopes to bring the best possible use of architecture and land planning to all of our projects.

Allie Wood
Director of Community Design
A Houston native raised in a family of designers and developers, Allie Wood arrived with an instinct for design that never left her. She holds degrees in interior architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and the New England School of Art & Design, and spent years working across New York, Connecticut, and Texas before returning home.
For Allie, great design has nothing to do with budget and everything to do with people. Her process starts with listening — to how a family lives, what they need, and what makes a space feel like theirs. The result is always functional, always personal, and never out of reach.
At Middle Ground Development Group, Allie brings that philosophy to Houston’s Third Ward, where every finish, floor plan, and detail is considered with real families in mind. She believes a well-designed home changes not just how people live, but how they feel about themselves.
Her work has been featured in design publications from coast to coast. Outside the of office, she’s at home in Houston with her husband and four active children — in a house that is, naturally, always a work in progress.
Bespoke. Contemporary. Liveable.

Richard Yount
After graduating from the University of Houston Law School in 1974, magna cum laude, Richard Yount had a 40-year career as a tax, corporate and real estate attorney both as a named partner in a local Houston firm and then as a partner in a national law firm, Baker & Hostetler. Prior to that, he practiced for a short time as a CPA. It was not until much later that he found his real passion as a serial entrepreneur.
He has been or still is an owner, administrator, CEO and/or Chairman of the Board of numerous medical businesses including seven freestanding emergency rooms and small emergency hospitals. His medical business interests also diversified into medical imaging, medical billing and medical transport.
His subsequent non-medical ventures include a number of industrial businesses including an industrial waste company, an industrial equipment rental company, a crane repair company and a real estate development company.
All of his businesses ended up requiring significant real estate development and real estate management work. Mr. Yount hopes to use his background and these experiences to assist Middle Ground Development with its affordable housing development activities in the Third Ward. He looks forward to using his background to help revitalize (but not gentrify) the Third Ward community.
